Good news can feel elusive these days, so I wanted to send some as soon as we inked it:
Dave Gray and I are publishing a 2nd Edition of Gamestorming!
It’s hard to believe, but it’s been more than ten years since our hybrid business/creativity book was first published. 250k+ copies, 25+ translations, and one innovation residency later, the world of work has been utterly tossed, so it seemed a good time to revivify this practice. Gamefulness fuels so many cognitive leaps - it can also change your inner world - and this is why gamestorming is one of the key methods at the reborn Center for Deep Self Design.
The second edition of the book will include new chapters about collaborating in virtual environments, design canvases, fluent collaboration, relational attunement, and more. This edition will also include my remarkable friend, colleague and long-time Gamestormer, Danyelle de Jong. She’ll be partnering as game curator, game inventor, recipe-writer and illustrator.
For those of you who prefer to put books down and get your hands dirty, Dave and I are also designing a brand-new Gamestorming Foundations course as well as a Gamestorming Certification. Oh, the places we’ll go!
The book-writing process has begun (at least, that’s what I’m conveying to our project lead) and the entire project will take about a year. We aim to bring in real-world facilitator stories (experiments, inventions, unique applications and, of course, bloopers), so Dave and I will invite you to play with us in various ways on Substack.
Until the next installment, game on, beautiful people! May other good news find you soon.
Gamestorming Certified?!? Color me intrigued! —and draw me in an extra hand while you're at it, yeah?
This is AWESOME.
Can't wait to get my copy. Thank you.
